How to get a new Papua New Guinea (PNG) Passport

  1. 1Complete the Application Form

    Download and complete the "Application for a PNG Passport" form.

    How to fill it: You can type directly into the form using Adobe Reader and print it out, or print it first and complete it clearly using black ink.

    Note: A separate application form must be filled out for every individual person.

  2. 2Gather Required Documentation

    Evidence of Citizenship: Attach your Birth Certificate or Citizenship Certificate.

    For Married Women: Include your Marriage Certificate if your name has changed.

    Previous Passports: You must attach your previous travel document unless it has been lost, stolen, or destroyed.

    Parental Consent: Applicants under 17 years old must have Section 2 of the form signed by a parent or legal guardian.

  3. 3Get Your Passport Photos and Guarantor Certification

    Provide two recent identical passport-sized photographs (35 mm x 45 mm). Photos must be full-face, head-and-shoulders only, with a light background, and no hats or tinted glasses.

    Find an authorized person (Lawyer, Medical Practitioner, Magistrate, Minister of Religion, Commissioner of Oaths, or Commissioned Officer of the Police/Defence Force) who has known you for at least 3 years.

    Have them complete the "Certificate Regarding Applicant" on page 3 of your form.

    The same person must endorse the back of one photo by writing: “I certify this to be a genuine photograph of (your full name)” and signing it.

  4. 4Pay the Passport Fee

    he standard fee for a passport is K100.

    This must be paid at your nearest official cash office. Keep the original receipt, as it must be attached to your application form.

    Note: Additional fees apply for fast-track processing or replacing lost/damaged passports.

  5. 5Lodge Your Application

    In Port Moresby: Hand-deliver your application to the ICA Head Office located at the Central Government Office, Waigani.

    Outside Port Moresby: Send your application via registered mail to:

  6. 6Passport Collection

    Your completed passport will be sent back to you via registered post, unless you chose to collect it personally.

    Note: Third-party agents are strictly prohibited from collecting passports on your behalf.
