This guide explains how a first-time driver can obtain a standard Class 1 driver’s licence in Papua New Guinea. A Class 1 licence covers ordinary cars and vehicles seating no more than eight people, including the driver, as well as light trucks weighing no more than two tonnes unladen. The process has three stages: Obtain a learner’s permit. Hold it for at least three months, practise driving and pass the practical test.
